The Paper Plane

Summer is almost here and as the weather warms we look for cocktail recipes that take a summery twist on Bourbon. Enter, The Paper Plane, a drink created in 2008 by NYC bartender Sam Ross.  Named after the MIA song of the same name, this boozy concoction employs two types of amaro and a bit of lemon juice to lift up its Bourbon base.  Crafted with equal parts of each ingredient, the Paper Plane is a deftly balanced drink with all components working in beautiful unison.

The Paper Plane

In a shaker glass filled with ice add:

• 3/4 Ounce Bourbon
• 3/4 Ounce Aperol
• 3/4 Ounce Amaro Nonino
• 3/4 Ounce Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice

Shake till painfully cold, strain into a chilled stemmed cocktail glass.  Garnish with a lemon twist and/or a small paper plane.
