Thanksgiving is right around the corner and there is nothing quite like the smell of a turkey roasting in the oven. Today we offer you a great way to start the holiday morning with our Grapefruit and Sage Mimosa. Sage brings fills the room with a heady aroma from the poultry spice on the bird so why not indulge ourselves further utilizing it in a morning Pick-Me-Up to enjoy whilst prepping the bird. The drink requires a nice bunch of fresh sage leaves, some to be worked into a simple syrup with a few left in reserve for garnishing. Only fresh Sage will do as the dried leaves become too pungent and will overpower the rest of the drink’s charms. The Grapefruit & Sage Mimosa is a great twist on the original and a perfect sipper for Thanksgiving. Cheers!
Grapefruit & Sage Mimosa In a generous sized, chilled Champagne Saucer or Cocktail Coupe add:
Top with Chilled Sparkling Wine. Garnish with a fresh sage leaf floated atop the drink
*Sage Simple Syrup In a medium saucepan add:
Bring to a boil then reduce heat and add ¼ cup fresh Sage leaves. Simmer for 5 minutes, shut off heat and cool with Sage leaves still in syrup. Strain the cooled syrup into a sterile glass bottle, discarding the leaves. Syrup will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. |
